Man, I wish I could get my hands on one as soon as possible, but I decided it would be a better idea to hold off and get one at the U.S. launch. I already preordered mine and am waiting.

well you can pay about $500 and have it now, and since they dont have regions, there is really no drawback aside from paying more. but if your trying to save money, just wait...

Paying $500 is not an option, plus I want to be able to play U.S.A. movies, and there are only Japanese games out there right now.

I dont blame you... in fact I wouldnt buy the PSP at all unitl some better games came out. I could say the same about the DS, but im actually glad I got my DS when i did because of how hard they are to get now, plus the price seems to have been raised to 229.

No, that price raise was for a special bundle from EBgames. www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/520680.asp

Theres a recently announced one that I got my eye on. Untold Legends:Brotherhood of the Blade. Similar to everquest and gauntlet but it's deeper than gauntlet and its not as frantic as gauntlet. It's more similar ot baldurs gate and it's 4 players wireless and theres 107 levels. Each one changes every time you play it because a random dungeon generator. Also the monsters change too. Also the weapons found. It's great and the whole game can be played co-operatively

I've got one. Sold one and have two for sale on ebay.
It's fantastic. Definately a quality well built piece. I'm sure that Sony is taking a bath on the price. They could easily sell it for $500... it really is that solid. It makes the DS look like the kids toy that it is.
I've already spent $200+ on games and memory.
Graphics are definately better than PS1... near PS2 quality. Once the software for internet connections / web browsing and PDA functions and camera attachments are added, the only thing else I could ask for is medical software.
Now I understand why when Bill Gates was asked which company he was most afraid of .... he didn't pick a Computer or Software company... he answered... SONY.

I dont get it though... I mean the PSP cant really offer anything that the ps2 already can but better.. Its only thing is that its a portable. MOST people, are not so terribly busy that they cant play a console. The DS, on the other hand can offer something that even a console cant.. Its efficiency goes well beyond its portability. Not only that but the DS has a much more impressive lineup of game on the way. The DS has much better 3rd party support, and that will only grow as the installed user base grows more and more over the PSP'. And lastly the price difference. Although the console itself is not so much cheaper, but most people intend to purchase several games over the course of the systems life... PSP games run $50 a piece. DS games on average run $30 a piece. Thats when the cost efficency kicks in. If you have a collection of 10 PSP games and 10 DS games, Your DS collection is $200 CHEAPER!!.... Thats a huge price difference right there... And at what sacrafice really? As the more recent DS games are proving, the PSP's graphics are only marginaly better. And the DS has options the PSP could simply never have.. And then with that $200 you save, you can take $20 of that and buy a cheap little attachment that enables movie, music, picture, Ebook, and NES game playback... And all of the sudden the PSP is almost irrelevant... Take all of that and combine it with the fact that Nintendo has had a death grip on the handheld market for 15 years, and has a track record of 100% in terms of handheld system success, you cant deny the DS....

I don't want to get into a DS vs PSP debate. When you see them both, you can make up your own mind. Here in Japan, the 1-9th graders all have the DS and the serious gamers all have the PSP. And that is the way the software seems to be marketed.
The PSP is an extremely impressive machine with a fantastic screen.

"Mostly M games and a few Ts"

gasp!
Computers>PSP
but then again...computers aren't really on the go...thats why I might get on (if they port PS1 games over to the PSP...like FF8...Resident Evil 1...and all the other classic PS games which pwns)
Only reason why PSP shines is the fact its portable...other than that...
Computer>PSP
*downloads PSP emulator* there we go =P

Interesting comparison, PC-PSP... and in that case I would have to agree computers are much better.. But then again oxygen is much better than computers. it goes, Oxygen-Computers-PSP..
