Nintendo DS:With its two screens, Nintendo DS instantly shows its innovative face. But capabilities like a touch-screen input, voice recognition and wireless communication set it apart from every other game device, and again demonstrate Nintendo’s passion for groundbreaking originality.Game players need only use their imagination to see how the DS promises to transform the portable game industry by changing the way gamers relate to their games – and each other. Two screens offer two perspectives on the action at once. The touch screen could make accessing items, moving characters or navigating menus as easy as a tap or drag on the screen. Voice recognition could let players simply tell the game what they want it to do. Chat software will let users transmit text messages, handwriting and even drawings to one another. And wireless functions could link players in the same room – or across the country. The unique features of the Nintendo DS hold a wellspring of potential for the future. Game players will be wowed. www.nintendo.com/ds/index.jspwww.nintendo.com/ds/overview.jspwww.nintendo.com/ds/quotes.jspwww.nintendo.com/ds/software.jsp

I'm going to buy a DS as soon as I have enough money. $150? That's more than any other Nintendo handheld, but I think it's worth it. I'm just worried about the PSP: can it beat the DS? I don't personally think so. The battery life on the PSP is rumored to be as low as 2 hours, if you're watching a movie. only 2 hours!

Yeah, it has about a 2 hour life with a graphics-intense game, and about 4-6 hours for a game with par graphics. And I think you can hook it up into a wall jack, but that takes the portability out of a handheld. Hell, just watch it on your TV if it's going to only last about 2 hours. Won't be able to sit through Lord of the Rings in that amount of time, eh?
The PSP will be $200, along with the memory card which will probably be around $30-$50 (?). The game line-up doesn't look to impressive to me, IMO. Hell, all the Square-games are going to the DS...bar the FFVII movie, which will only be a movie. Did I say it was going to be a movie, and not a game?
Final Fantasy 3, which was never releasd here in the US, is going to be released for the DS. It may just have a new, revitilized look for it; perhaps it may be in full 3D polygons and not just a bunch of 2D sprites.
The DS will last around 10 hours with a rechargable battery. The online service, dubbed Demasked, will show its face sometime next year. Untill then, there will be a substitute taking its place.
I'm going for the DS, unless something happens with the PSP that will make me change my mind and go for it...but that's highly unlikely at this point.

One think in the psp you can buy a battery thingy that last 25! hours Holly. But you can recharge you psp and watch a movie. So it last longer
