Hey all gamers
I am still very sad to this day since rare left nintendo and went with Xbox. I loved donkey kong and the banjo games. This may be old to you but i am just starting a good conversation. Do you think them moving was a good idea??

Yeah im sad too. Banjo,Perfect Dark, and all the other games would have been great on gamecube. Rare made a bad choice to go with microsoft. I think they have only made one game for xbox so far... (Grabbed by the ghoulies). Im not sure if the game is good or not. But maybe Rare has some big project up their sleeve. ;D

Yeah, I'm sad too because of their great past on the N64 and the SNES. But look at Star Fox Adventures and Grabbed By The Goolies (something like that), they were both were subpar adventure games. While they might look nice and shiny, the controls, the story and everything else dragged the game down as well.
I'd still like to have Rare still hanging out with Nintendo and developing games like Banjo-Kazooee and Donkey Kong Country. But if Nintendo has to pay them like $20 million to stay an exclusive (I think that's what Microsoft paid, any correction is welcome), and they turn more stuff out like SFA, then in my opinion, it's not worth it.
Right now, I'm looking forward to what Retro Studios can do with other game francises, not just Metroid. Metroid Prime is one of the best games on the GameCube right now, so why not let them develop an original or something, see what they can do, right?
To recap: Rare = Nintendo's Past Retro = Nintendo's Future
EDIT: Added the second paragraph.

RARE moving to XBOX was the worst thing ever! I miss RARE just like everybody else. I only wish they would come back or start making games up to RARE standard.

freeman, Rare Ltd. is a very well known video game design company that has much such titles as Jet Force Gemini, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, developed Donkey Kong for a few years, etc... Their website is www.rareware.com if you want to take a gander at them. The main reason Rare has not made many games here lately is because they couldn't develop anything in the time right before switching to Microsoft, so they only tackled one game which was Star Fox. Now that they are with MS, they will begin creating games once again, so we should see more to come very soon. Perfect Dark: Zero, Sabrewolf, and Kameo: Elements of Power are the three main games to come.

Yeah, I always remember Rare as being one with Nintendo. It's a shame they left their company they've been with for so long, and went to Microsoft.
However, don't worry about Donkey Kong. It's staying with Nintendo, and I believe Namco is going to make the new Donkey Kong games, and all the games Rare made for Nintendo, too.
We won't see Banjo or Pefect Dark, but we won't lose any of Nintendo's key franchise characters.
And yeah, Retro has been locked away for a long time, now. I am glad to see Nintendo's brought them back. The absence of them for over 8 years has brough a hard time on me.
But it's no biggy. Rare is gone for the better. They always prolonged the release of their games, and that got on Nintendo's nerves for the last time.

Hi, welcome to UGF. The new Legend of Zelda game will come out sometime next year. I won't have anymore information until then. However, I can answer your question about Donkey Konga. You listen to music, and at certain points, you bang on a drum--or more specific, a pair of bongo drums. There is a 1P mode, where you play through each level . Then there's a 2P mode, where you go face-to-face with a friend. Then there's minigames, like bop King K. Rool--whack-the-mole style! The gameplay reminds me of Dance Dance Revolution and Kareoke Revolution. It's a music game, and was made by Namco. As you might've guessed, it has Donkey Kong characters in the game. 2P is pretty fun. There's also going to be a platforming-type game which will utilize the bongo drums, and the theme will still be Donkey Kong. The game will be made by Namco, too.

I think Nintendo knew exactly what they were doing when they went their seperate ways. Right now, im afraid that Rare is little more than a name.. The actual people behind both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are no longer with the company. They've since formed a studio of their own and have released the Timesplitters series, and a new game called Second Sight. And since their departure the last thig that came out of Rare was "Grabbed by ghoolies", a medicore title at best.. Seems like Nintendo sold MS a TV box with a brick in it... Rare's glory days may be in the past..
